Teacher’s corner:
ELA: Yesterday we
started reading novel ‘Swindle’ by Gordon Korman. We have finished reading the first
2 chapters: students took turns reading out loud to the class. Our focus this
week is the setting of the story. Students compiled a list of descriptors that author
used to bring the first setting of the novel, the Rockford mansion, to live. Using
the list student started representing the setting in their visual journals.
Our goal
is to explore, describe and discuss the influence of the setting on the events
of the story.
Math: We continue working on patterns. Students are
practising solving math problems through creating tables, recording and
analysing numerical patterns. Quiz on patterns is coming soon.
Our goals as defined by the
program of studies are:
-
recognising patterns in the world and nature around us
-
analysing and determining numerical patterns
-
solving math problems using numerical patterns
